Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center is a fully integrated nonprofit health care system with a 159-bed tertiary care hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai‘i. The Anticoagulation department provides comprehensive patient management, monitoring and instruction related to anticoagulation therapy. Anticoagulants are agents used for the treatment and prevention of many blood-clotting disorders including venous thrombosis, pulmonary emboli, mechanical heart valves, embolic stroke, atrial fibrillation and certain thrombophilias. Our highly trained anticoagulation professionals ensure that blood-clotting difficulties do not interfere with required medical attention so that patients feel safe and confident in our care.
As the Anticoagulation Pharmacist, you will help to ensure that the Pharmacy department at Straub provides outstanding pharmaceutical knowledge and services to our patients and their families. In this role, you will compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, supplies, medications and large and small volume parenterals. You will also provide information concerning medications to other health professionals, and monitor the safe distribution of medications to patients.
