Hawaii Pacific Health Financial Counselor - Financial Services in Honolulu, Hawaii

Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Our Financial Services department is dedicated to ensuring that patients can receive the highest quality health care available, given a diversity of abilities to pay. Financial assistance is available for those individuals who are uninsured or underinsured or who are experiencing financial hardship, because we believe that a person’s inability to pay should not prevent them from receiving necessary health care. Our team of professionals helps to coordinate patient financial responsibilities from pre-admission through discharge, including the identification and organization of financial resources required to cover estimated charges not covered by health plan, insurance or other sources.

If you enjoy working with people and believe that quality health care is a right that should not be denied based on someone’s income, you could be our next Financial Counselor. In this role, you will provide valuable support and information to Kapi‘olani patients and their families so that they fully understand and are comfortable with meeting their financial responsibilities. This includes coordinating and overseeing patients’ financial responsibility from pre-admission through discharge, and identifying and organizing financial resources needed to cover anticipated Medical Center charges that are not covered by health plans. We are looking for someone with patient and sensitive customer service skills, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.
