Job Description
Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.
Straub Clinic & Hospital's highly trained neurologists perform neurological evaluations and diagnoses for patients of all age groups. Evaluations include electrodiagnostic testing as well as topographical brain mapping. Patients with balance, equilibrium or dizziness problems are tested with special equipment, as are those with neuromuscular disorders such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis. Straub was one of the first hospitals in Hawai‘i to treat stroke with TPA, a blood clot dissolving drug that has helped many patients avoid the devastating effects of stroke. Our Sleep Disorders Center is an accredited, full-service sleep center that offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to patients of all ages with sleep-related disorders such as insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, obstructive sleep apnea, heavy snoring, narcolepsy, nightmares or sleepwalking/sleeptalking.
As a Medical Assistant in our Neurology department, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide our recognized compassionate health services to patients and their families. In this role, you will perform a wide variety of patient care activities. We are looking for someone detail-oriented and attentive, with strong communications and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. Must be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.
