Kapi‘olani Medical Specialists (KMS) is a specialty physician group dedicated to caring for Hawai‘i's women and children through excellence in academics, physician training, medical research and clinical care. The group is comprised of over 100 Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and other staff, covering newborn to women's health services at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children. KMS operates exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, offering highly specialized care options at Kapi‘olani and building support for these services within Hawai‘i as a whole. The group’s specialty areas include: Behavioral Health Services, Emergency Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology and the full spectrum of Pediatrics. Its Women’s specialists include Adult Hospitalists and GYN Oncology.
At Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides continuous acute care to newborns of up to three months, including meeting the complex psychosocial needs of both the child and their family. Nursing and medical support staff in the NICU work with the Neonatology team to care for premature babies and assist in pediatric surgeries, providing care to newborn infants with cardiovascular and/or respiratory disease and infants requiring treatments for various diagnoses including infection and surgery. Support and education is delivered to patients and family in an atmosphere that promotes bonding of the family unit.
As the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to provide compassionate and life-changing care to newborns and their families. You will be responsible for the direct care and treatment of neonatal patients; leading and performing patient evaluations, treatments and specialized technical procedures; serving as a clinical resource to staff and physicians; and facilitating the health education of family members, referrals to other disciplines and consultation with other allied health personnel. Minimum Qualifications: Must meet education requirements for Hawai‘i state licensing. Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse (RN) license. Current Hawai‘i Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license. Must meet education requirements and obtain current Hawai‘i prescriptive authority (Rx) license within two years of hire. Completion of a formal Neonatology Nurse Practitioner Program. Successful completion of Medical Staff Credentialing process. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certification cards. Two (2) years Registered Nurse experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Preferred Qualifications: Nationally certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). One year advanced practitioner experience. Teaching and/or public speaking experience.
