Job Description

Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.

The Facilities Management department maintains a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and employees at Hawai‘i Pacific Health facilities. It provides our hospital and clinics with regular maintenance of physical buildings, routine safety inspections and minor repairs to ensure that our infrastructure operates at its best. Staff perform skilled work in the repair, replacement and refinishing of equipment and systems such as electrical services, HVAC services, plumbing services, power plant operation and general maintenance of buildings and grounds with goal of providing an aesthetically pleasant, functional and safe operating environment.

As the HVAC Controls Specialist, you will help to maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems at Hawai‘i Pacific Health hospitals and clinics. We are looking for someone with strong organizational skills, attention to operational and procedural integrity and a commitment to our vision of creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s Degree OR Technical certification in a related field OR Five (5) years of journey level experience. Five (5) years of journey-level experience. Competency in the functionality of Building Automation Systems, including software, engineering and commissioning tools, Direct Digital Controls systems and field devices, including experience with the start-up and commissioning of Building Automation Systems. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of system networking and IT applications. Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field. Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) from the International Society of Automation (ISA). Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Equipment Certification. Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification. Two (2) to five (5) years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing Building Automation Systems. BACnet and/or LonWorks protocol fundamentals. Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 experience. Experience working with Johnson Controls Metasys or Trane Tracer.
