Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Sterile Services team plays a vital role in ensuring that medical and other needed equipment is readily available to units throughout Hawai‘i Pacific Health hospitals and clinics. This department cleans, prepares, assembles, sterilizes, distributes, and ensures the quality of all surgical instruments and medical equipment so that our physicians and staff can effectively carry out their work in caring for Hawai‘i’s people.

As the Surgical Instrument Processing Technician, you will be responsible for cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, distributing and ensuring the quality of all surgical instruments and specific medical equipment. You will also inventory and replenish medical supplies via various distribution systems. We are looking for someone with outstanding patient care and communication skills, a strong sense of surgical procedure and protocol and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai'i.

Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Two (2) years central service/sterile processing or related experience.
