Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. The Case Management team puts great emphasis on helping each patient transit their health care treatment with an appropriate set of support tools and information. Our caring, professional staff provides timely medical and discharge management to meet clinical and service goals, and to provide an effective, appropriate continuum of care. We want to ensure that our patients receive the attention they need, especially when they require care from several different services and other combinations of medical, financial or social intervention.

As the RN Case Manager, you will ensure the considerate and confidential management of unique and high-risk patient cases by performing case management through direct referrals and reviews of medical records. This includes determining the appropriateness and medical necessity of admissions, continued hospital stay, and the use of ancillary services. You will also perform treatment plan assessments, discharge needs interviews, planning/coordination for high risk cases, and participate in organizational quality improvement activities. We are looking for someone perceptive to patient needs, with outstanding organizational and communication skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in health care field. Current Hawai'i Registered Nurse License. Minimum of three (3) years experience in nursing field, preferably in clinical area. Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and time management skills, and computer experience required. Knowledge of required third party and governmental guidelines, social welfare and health care delivery systems.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of criteria based review. Strong organization, analytical, and planning skills.
