Job Description
Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. The Biomedical Engineering department supports and enhances the work of our health care professionals by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation, technical support and training for all medical and scientific instrumentation/biomedical equipment. Our team ensures that the latest health care engineering and technology is put to the service of quality patient care and we work to enhance the use of this technology through ongoing evaluation, operation and staff education.
As the Biomedical Equipment Repair Tech I, you would maintain clinical equipment through the effective use of the medical equipment management plan. In addition, you would perform a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, testing, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment. We are looking for someone meticulous with a demonstrated appreciation for technical protocol and quality control, willingness to work with others in a team-oriented atmosphere, the ability to carry out tasks efficiently with minimal supervision and a commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in electronics, biomedical technology, or electronics OR military training OR Academic work aligned with AAMI's Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Technician.
Preferred Qualifications: Biomedical Equipment Technician certification.
