Job Description
Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. The Medical Surgical department provides quality and safe care to patients admitted for acute nursing interventions of 24 hours or more within surgical/medical and oncology services. The highly trained and professional staff treats people recovering from serious illness, orthopedic problems and major surgery. Medication and treatments are provided in a warm and caring environment that facilitates patient recovery.
As the Supervisor, you will help to provide caring, effective intervention for patients suffering medical trauma by supervising staff and overseeing the daily operation of an assigned department. You will implement and track the effectiveness of programs or policies designed to enhance the quality of patient care services. In coordination with nursing leadership, you will plan, coordinate and evaluate all aspects of critical care nursing, including its delivery process, performance improvement, prevention, training and continuing education. Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawaii RN License. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Three (3) years clinical experience with concentration in area of specialty. One (1) year charge nurse or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration or related field. Current national certification in area of specialty.
